杨东莼的《本国文化史大纲》是我国一部较早的唯物的文化史著作。本文着重分析了杨著唯物的文化及文化史观 ,并对其运用马克思主义“五社会形态论”进行文化史分期加以探讨 。

An Outline History of Chinese Culture by YANG Dong-chun is an early materialist work on Chinese culture.This essay attempts to analyze the materialist views of culture and cutural history revealed in YANG's work and then probes into the stage divisions it makes by employing the Marxist theory of Five Social Formations.Meanwhile,the essay also points out the defects in its theoretical framework as well as its significance in the study of cultural history.
