The synthesis, properties and application of planar binuclear phthalocyanine and its derivatives, in which two phthalocyanine units share a common benzene ring, are described. The article introduce the development and the main method of synthesis, as well as its catalysis, redox, fluorescence, LB film, liquid crystals properties. In the end, the prospect of this kind of compound is provided.
