Rethinking of Fine Brush Painting and Wash Painting

文人画是指创作思想和审美情趣而言 ,并不是指在表现形式上属于水墨还是工笔。无论从理论上讲还是从历史事实上讲 ,文人画不仅包括了水墨画 ,也包括了工笔画 ,水墨画和工笔画是中国画这棵大树上两个干粗叶茂的分枝。

The scholar painting is defined on the basis of the composing idea and aesthetic appeal,not on the form of expressin,of the painting.Theoretically and historically,the scholar painting includes the wash painting as well as the fine bruch painting,which are the two trunks on the big tree of Chinese painting.
