“团结、高尚、博学、创新”正式确定为校训 ,彻底结束了云南民族学院没有校训的半世纪办学历程 ,作为各族师生员工的行为准则、动力之源和奋斗目标 ,校训突出了民院的特点 ,概括了办学的灵魂和目标 ,反映了师生的共同愿望和要求 ,将永远激励各族师生员工奋发进取 ,建设重点大学。

Unity; loftiness; erudition; creativity', the officially accepted motto of YUN, ushers in a new era in YUN. This motto reveals the characteristics of YUN, summarizes the soul and the aims of running such a university, and reflects the wishes and demands of all the staff members and students. Guided by this motto as the source of motive power, the staff members and students at YUN will be further motivated to build YUN into a key university in Yunnan.
