This paper introduces the development and application of GIS, and describes the background of the Expressway Database System study in Guangdong Province. A design method using GIS technology is provided to show geographic information directly, connecting database with map loaded with geographic information, together with systematic framework design The design methods have been realized by GIS platform - MapInfo Professional 4.5.
