The OFR technique, a novel wastewater treatment technique successfully developed by our laboratory, was applied to the treatment for high colority dye printing and dyes wastewater. The effect of the main physico chemical factors, including cell voltage, interelectrode distance, air flow, pH value and treating time, on the decolorization rate was investigated. And accordingly the optimal operating conditions were determined. Under the optimal conditions, the decolorization rate and COD Cr removal rate reached over 99% and 80% respectively. The degradation mechanism is based on the oxidation of hydroxyl radical (·OH) generated in the OFR.
