Studying cancer cells in situ plays an important role in understanding the alterations of genes,proteins and signal transduction molecules whichis critical to cancer development and progression,and would promote the advancement of more precise diagnostics,therapeutic targets and biomarkers specific for human cancers.This review discuss mainly some advances in microdissection,genomics,genetics and proteomics,as well as their application in the study of cancer cell in situ,and also look forward to the progress in molecular biological research of cancer in the new century.
