李鸿章与洋务时期的留学教育

中国近代留学教育的创始及发展与洋务运动的发展密不可分,在洋务派首领中,李鸿章所起的作用显然是举足轻重的。他是近代留学教育的重要倡议者之一,更是留学教育的主要筹划者,在此期间他二十余次请奏朝廷,议论与留学相关之事宜,奏稿之多无人能比。他在外交上为留学教育疏通关节;在经费、师生管理、学生出路等问题上出谋划策;在学生的学习内容、学习方法上具有明见。他为近代留学风气之开创、新式人才之培养作出了值得肯定的业绩。

Li Hong -zhang(1823-1901),one of the leaders of Yang Wu Campaig n,had an important effect on the initiation a nd the development of studying abroa d in modern China.As the sponsor and the hatcher of studying -abroad,he memorialized the emperor over twenty times.Dis-cussing the matters concerned ,maki ng great efforts to obviate the obsta cles in diplomacy,Li Hong -zhang did a lot for this cause,therefore,he should be acknowledged for hi s achievement.
