Lateral drilling is developed rapidly and applied widely in recent years for its obvious advantages of improving oil recovery of old oilfields. Good production results and economic benefit are achieved using the technique in Xianhezhuang ar ea. A lot of basic patterns of selected wells are formed that are fit for the co mplex reservoir types in this area. The answers for the problems of the lateral drilling in application are more definite. A series of countermeasures and measu res are formed on the technology, operation and management.
