The leaves of the insect-resistant transgenic rapeseed were bigger in size and lighter in color in its earlier growth periods as compared with rapeseed (Brassica napus) cultivar 'Xiangyou 13' and it appeared more insect-resistant at its seedling stage. Its other morphological, agronomic and quality characters and growth duration were no different from those of Xiangyou 13.
