Fentanyl is the first available opioid to be delivered transder mally. The invention of transdermal fentanyl provides a new method to treat canc er pain. This report introduces the advantage of transdermal fentanyl and the ex perience about its use in cancer pain, which provides the theoretical basis for the clinical rational use of TTS fentanyl.
