Reflections on the Development of Urban Squares

通过对西安市南门广场的功能发挥进行分析 ,认为南门广场未能遵循城市广场设计的多样化原则 ,作者从建立多层次空间、提高可坐率。

An analysis of Nanmen Square shows that its functions are not given free play to and that its design does not follow the principle of variety. Owing to these deficiencies of Nanmen Square, the author puts forward some suggestions as to perfecting the functions of urban squares. The anthor suggests that multi-layered space be built up; more sitting room be provided and a cultural atmosphere be created.
