论非语言因素在跨文化交际中的作用

The Effect of Non－ linguistic Factors on cross－ cultural commanication

现代语义学认为，英语词具有三种属于不同范畴的意义：一是词汇意义，二是语法意义，三是社会文化意义。也就是说，在不同的文化里，相同的词语可有不同的含义。因此，非语言因素诸如历史背景、宗教信仰、风俗习惯、文学艺术等在跨文化交际中起着重要的作用。本文拟从英汉翻译的立场出发，阐述非语言因素如何影响跨文化交际。

Modern semantics says an English word usually has three meanings:lexical meaning,grammatical meaning and social－ cultuiral meaning.That is to say the same word may have a different meaning in a different social culture.So non－ linguistic factors such as history background,religon,social custorns,literature and arts etc.Play an important role in crosscultural communication.This paper takes English－ Chinese translation for examples to expound how non－ linguistic factors affect cross－ cultural communication.
