On the Disaster Relief by Production in the First Year of New China

新中国成立伊始 ,百废待兴 ,中国人民在与旧势力作斗争 ,恢复国民经济的同时 ,还与自然灾害进行着不屈不挠的抗争。建国初年自然灾害 ,主要是水灾 ,其产生既有气候原因 ,又与以往统治者的统治及帝国主义者的侵略分不开。在新中国政府的正确领导下 ,虽面临种种困难局面 ,但灾区人民和全国人民团结一致 ,自力更生 ,生产救灾 ,以中华民族特有的艰苦奋斗精神 ,战胜了灾害 。

In the first year when new China was founded, all neglected tasks were waiting to be undertaken. Chinese people were fighting,on the one hand,with the reactionary forces and restoring the national economy, and on the other hand, with the natural disasters. During the beginning years of new China,the natural disasters, mainly the flood, have close connections with both the weather and the previous rulers and the invasion of the imperialism. Under the righteous leadership of the new Chinese government, though encountering the difficult situation, people of the disaster areas and all over the country united together, provided disaster relief by production through self reliance,relying on Chinese nation's special hard working spirit,at last conquered the natural disasters,and reduced the loss to a minimum.
