摘要
本文以 L inux操作系统的性能为测试基准 ,应用微观测试和宏观测试方法对运行于奔腾处理器上的 Minix操作系统性能进行了深入研究 .研究表明 ,通过改进 Minix操作系统中某些不合理的结构和实现技术 ,Minix的整体性能得到较大幅度提高 .研究同时发现 ,对于核心函数实现简单的系统调用来讲 。
This paper evaluates the performance of Minix operating system on the Pentium. We evaluate Minix using both microbenchmarks and macrobenchmarks. We also use the same microbenchmarks to evaluate the currently available major release Linux without any performance tuning and take it as our analytic baseline. Our results show that the performance of Minix is improved greatly when improper structures and techniques implemented in Minix have been ameliorated. At the same time, we also find that latencies of simple system calls are deeply influenced by microkernel structure.
