Method of preparation of a new reactive surfactant ammonium methyl ricinoleic acid sulfate was studied. The advantages of using sulfamic acid as the sulfating agent were emphasized. The optimum synthetic conditions were molar ratio of methyl ricinoleic acid to sulfamic acid to catalysis (urea) was 1∶1.05∶0.8, reaction time was 3 h, and reaction temperature was 120-130°C.
