Direct torque controlDTC for paper machine driving is introduced in this paper． The control accuracy of direct torque control in the state of open-loop is as good as that of the closed-loop torque control and there is also no over-amplitude in this control． Therefore DTC is one of the AC speed adjustment methods with both excellent static and dynamic performance characters．
