The Metaphor of Love and Prototype of Love in the Poems of John Donne

This paper firstly gives a brief analysis of the metaphors of love in John Donne's poems on the basis of Searle's theory on metaphors, and then employs the theory of prototype of love to make a comparison between Donne's metaphors and the prototype of love depicted in the mythology in ancient Greece, thus proving the elegance of Donne's employment of metaphors in his poems.
