The electromagnetic continuous casting processing with soft contact mold is a novel technique for improving quality of billet by applying electromagnetic field in mold. The development of this process was reviewed, along with the presentation of proces principle and the analyses on the problem affected the application of this process in industry. It was pointed out that there is still some technical barriers to be conquered before application practically, so the extended investigation is needed.
