In this paper, the authors studied the relation between entropy solutions and renormalized solution of nonlinear elliptic equations and nonlinear parabolic equations with L 1 data. For elliptic problems, equivalence of entropy solutions and renormalized solutions has been established. It is also proved that any renormalized solution must be entropy solution. Z
