Value Presetting and Practical Derivation: Contradiction in New Literature

作为群体政治行为的价值预设和作为个体文学行为的实践偏离之间的冲突，构成了“五四”前后新文学运动的一种基本矛盾，并贯串于整个２０世纪民族文学的进程中，其实质反映了五四精神跟“五四”时期思维模式的差异和冲突。当社会政治使价值预设不可避免时，文学只能用“实践偏离”来保存、发展自身，这其中的丰富内容，应是五四文学史最重要的框架。

The confrontation between the value presetting of group political behaviour and the practical deviation of individual literature formed a basic contradiction in the new Literature Movement during the period of the May 4 Movement, and has lasted throughout the 20th century. Such a confrontation shows the differentiation and conflict between the May 4 spirit and the mode of thought during that period. When social politics catalysed value presetting, deviation in practice helped to retain and develop literature. Such a phenomenon was the major framework of the history of the May 4 Movement.
