西部大开发是一项巨大的系统工程，是促进地区经济协调发展的重大举措。本文运用系统科学的分析方法和非均衡经济发展理论说明西部大开发不是齐头并进，而应该是非均衡的协调发展。

The devolopment of the western region is a giant systematic projects, and an important step in promoting the coordination of reginal economy. This article shows that the development of the western region should be ont of unbanlanced-coordination rather than a balanced one by means of systematic science and with the theory of unbalanced economic development.
