A quantitative method for 4 nitro m cresol and 6 nitro m cresol in toluene wash liquid by gas chromatography with γ 666 as internal standard is reported. A stainless steel column of 1 m×3 mm(i.d) packed with 5% OV 101/Chromosorb W/AW DMCS(60～80 mesh) and flame ionization detector were used at column temperature of 130℃ and injection port and detector temperature of 240℃. Three was a good line calibration curve in the range from 0.2 to 16.2 g/L( r=0.9989, n=7, for 4 nitro m cresol) and 0.16 to 13.0 g/L( r=0.9991,n=7 , for 6 nitro o cresol). The method developed has made a reliable analytical means for recovery process of nitro m cresol in toluene wash liquid.
