黄河河口镇至吴堡区间是黄河龙门洪水、下游粗泥沙的主要来源区之一。本地区处在中纬度内陆地带,受西风环流影响显著,加上地形、地貌的特殊性,极易发生区域性暴雨,其特点是,暴雨强度大、历时短、时空分布极不均匀,其支流洪水陡涨陡落、含沙量较大。

The reach between Hekouzhen and Wubu of Huanghe River is the main source of flood at Longmen section and coarse sediment of the river, Situating in middle latitude inland, subject to west-wind circulation and due to particular features of topography and landform, sparse vegetation and progressive desertification, reginal storms characterized by high intensty, short duration and extremly uneven in distribution are easy to be formed in this reach, and then the floods created are in sharp peak flow and heavy sedimentladen.
