无论从认识事物的一般规律还是从历史的角度看 ,都有必要把汉字和以英语为代表的西方字母文字进行系统的对比研究。该文分析了汉字、西方字母文字对比研究应该把握的切入点 ,即 :两种文字的起源、历史和造字取向以及由此决定的两种文字音、形。

Epistemologically or historically speaking, it is necessary to make a systematic and contrastive study on the Chinese writing system and the alphabetical writing systems represented by the English writing system. This paper analyzed the key issues concerning the contrastive study of the Chinese writing system and the alphabetical writing systems characterized by the English writing system, and it pointed out that the key issues are as follows: the origin, the history, and the mechanism in the making of the two different kinds of writing systems together with the relationships between the sound, form, and meaning of them.
