Historical Evolution, Modern Significance and Future Trend of Confucianism

儒学已经历了两千多年的历史发展 ,它在坚持其“一贯之道”的基础上通过不断改变自身形态而以顽强的生命力延续至今。其强调个人修养的道德精神、以道德责任感为基础的对社会生活的参与精神、普遍和谐的观念以及以道德立法的思想等都有可资现代社会借鉴的价值。在 2 1世纪中国的现代化进程中 ,儒学已没有可能成为中国文化的主流 ,但因其思想中包含的许多具有现代意义和价值的精髓 。

Confucianism has experienced a long histroy of over 2000 years and lasts till today with strong vitality. There are many things to learn from Confucianism in modern society: the moral spirit of emphasizing personal cultivation, the spirit of participating in social life based on a sense of moral responsibility, the concept of harmony and legislation by morality, etc.. In China′s modernization process in the 21st century, it is impossible for confucianism to be the mainstream of Chinese culture, yet there is still room for its existence and development with its modern significance.
