文章通过对早期《申报》广告内容的分析 ,指出了早期《申报》广告是传播西方科学技术 ,城市交通、卫生、规划等方面的知识和经验以及文化艺术的媒介 ,评价了在中国迈入近代社会的初期 ,国人急需接触和学习西学时 ,早期《申报》
Through the analyses of the advertisements on the early issues of Shanghai Post, the auther points out that these ads were powerful media in the spreading of such areas of western learning as science and technology, city transport, hygience and planning, as well as western culture and art. The auther also evaluates the effects of these knowledge and experience on the gradual modernization of the country at the early stage of modern China.
