Objectives: To study intracranial vagal neurovascular decompression in the treatments of acute hypertensive intracerebral haemorrhage(HICH) and its effect on the blood pressure. Methods: Intracranial vagal neurovascular decompression was performed after removal of hematomas in 22 cases with acute hypertensive cerebral haemorrhage. Results: Postoperatively, the blood pressure returned to normal in 7 cases, approaching normality a week after operation in 8 cases and two weeks after operation in 3 cases, no obvious changes in 4 cases. Conclusions: Intracranial vagal neurovascular decompression is of benefit in decreasing blood pressure in patients with hypertensive intracerebral haemorrhage. This method might avoid reoperation, anesthesia, and rebleeding postoperatively. It would be a new theory and an effective method for refractory essential hypertension.
