The applications of Matlab in drawing classical control system's root locus are introduced. For certain K and the zero points for an open system, the changes of the system's step response are analyzed, appropriate parameters are chosen in order to achieve overshoot and peek value time which system needs. Thereby the great function of Matlab is shown in dealing with problems of control system.
