新时期高校政工干部自身的素质如何，这对推进学生素质教育将起到十分重要的作用。为此，高校政工干部必须通过全面培养，提高综合素质；注重人格修养，树立自身的良好形象；严格考核管理，促进健康成长。同时，要通过有效机制，激励奋发向上等措施来提高他们的政治理论素质、知识素质、思想品德素质、能力素质和心理素质，以适应素质教育的要求。

Political cadres' own quality plays an important role in pushing forward the students' quality－oriented education in colleges and universities.Therefore,The political cadres must receive all－round training to raise their comprehensive qualities,pay attention to their personality accomplishment to establish their own good images,experience strict examination and control to promote their healthy development.At the same time,such measures as effective mechanism and encouragement of exerting themselves must be taken to improve their qualities of political theory,of knowledge,of morality,of ability and of minds,in order to meet the requirements of the quality－oriented education.
