Application of Xanthan Gum in Suspensions and Ointments

目的 考察黄原胶在混悬剂和软膏中作为助悬、增稠剂的作用。方法 以炉甘石洗剂、联苯苄唑滴眼剂和联苯苄唑软膏作为模型 ,考察并比较不同天然胶在非均相液体制剂和半固体制剂中的作用 ,探讨黄原胶作为助悬剂和增稠剂的特点。结果 黄原胶具有触变性 ,助悬和增稠作用优于其它天然胶。

Aim To explored xanthan gum served as suspending agent and thickener in suspensions and ointments. Methods Effects of several natural gums on heterogeneous liquid and topical semi-solid preparations were compared, where calamine lotion, bifonazole eye drop and bifonazole ointment serving as models. Characteristics of xanthan gum as suspending agent and thickener were discussed. Result Xanthan gum has thixotrophy and its suspending and thickening function is better than that of other gums. Conclusion Xanthan gum is an excellent kind of suspending agent or thickener.
