On John Keats' Difference with the Aesthetes

约翰·济慈(1795-1821)是英国浪漫主义文学时期一位杰出的诗人。他一生崇拜永恒的美和不朽的真理,其作品中有着一定的唯美倾向。长期以来,西方评论家把济慈看作唯美主义的先驱。本文结合济慈的诗歌作品,分析其内容和审美思想,最终得出济慈不同于唯美主义者的结论。

John·Keats(1795-1821)was one of the brilliant poets in the age of Romanti-cism in English literature.He pursued all his life the eternal beauty and truth and showed a certain in dulgence in the appreciation of beauty.For a long time he was claimed to be the forerunner of the'art for art's sake'school by the western critics.This article analyzes his typical poems and his aesthetic views,and reaches the conclusion that he never belongs to the school of Aestheticism.
