摘要
剖析了认为情态助动词没有时态形式的流派的基本观点及论据 ,从形式、语义和综合分析三个方面 ,否定了“无派”的观点 ,论证了情态助动词有一个包括现在时态和过去时态的时态语法范畴。认为只有深刻领悟时态的语义实质 ,才能正确阐述情态助动词的各种用法 ,提高对语言的驾驭能力。
The paper makes a thorough analysis of the argument of the school which holds that English Model Verbs have no tense form at all .By means of formal analysis, semantic analysis and synthetic analysis, the author rejects the argument of“the negative school', verifies that there is a grammatical category of tense for Model Verbs. It can be summarized as follows: Only when we have a full understanding of the semantic essence of the tense, can we expound all the uses of Model verbs correctly and thus, can we improve our ability to grasp English language.
