Digital signal processor has been widely used for its high performance and flexible programming ability. In many application systems, the DSP serves as co-processor and PC acts as main processor. It is important to realize communication between DSP and PC in an effective and reliable way during system design. Several methods to realize serial communication between digital signal processor and personal computer, including both the hardware and software, are described in the paper. The advantages and disadvantages of each method are also discussed and compared.
