This article probes into the function of the modern Chinese Dictionary (Revised Edition) from the aspect of modern Chinese teaching.It holds that this dictionary is a standandized reference book in popularizing Putong hua and promoting the standardization of Chinese and is the most important supplementary reference book.It points out the books' defects in Chinese Characters' collection,pronunciation and meaning explaining.
