The traditional Chinese verses,with shi,ci,qu,fu as four unique types,have their contemporary value as follows:the ideological value in arousing the national confidence of us Chinese people in creating a more glorious future,the aesthetic value in helping people develop their imaginative faculty and creative ability to appreciate and create beauty,and thepractical value in being of service to people who are enjoying a new life underpresent circumstances of market economy.In such aspects,they have far exceeded their value as pure literary works.In order to make the best of their contemporary value,we should exert our efforts to promote the development,propagation,and popularization of Chinese verses in our era.
