You Guo-en's Studies of The Songs of the South and His Moral Integrity in Education

游国恩是现代楚辞学的集大成者 ,其《楚辞概论》、《楚辞论文集》等著作 ,将楚辞作为一个完整自足的体系来研究 ,并在大量原始文献分析的基础上 ,提出了许多富于启示性的观点 ,体现了他严谨求实、勇于创新的学风。游国恩一生从不迎合强权与世俗 ,其精神品格与屈原一脉相承。他同时还培养和熏染了一代又一代的学生后辈 。

You Guo en synthesizes all the contemporary studies on The Songs of the South and brought them to their highest development. He takes The Songs of the South as a complete system for research in his works. Based on the analysis of a host of original documents, he comes up with lots of enlightening viewpoints which give full expression to his meticulous and innovative style of study. He is regarded as a direct successor of Qu Yuan in terms of moral integrity for refusing to cater to any power or common customs. Meanwhile, he brings up generations of young scholars through his influence and makes great contributions to Beijing University and national culture and education.
