摘要
赛珍珠虽然生为美国人 ,但是在她 1934年回国定居之前 ,她对美国的认识是十分有限的 ,而她对中美两国、两种文化之间的隔阂却是很早就体认到了。另外 ,赛珍珠具有美国式的民主意识。这三点都不同程度地影响了她的创作。
American as Pearl Buck is, she knew little if any about the U.S. before she settled there in 1934. However, from her childhood she came to be aware of the barrier between China and the U.S.. Besides, Pearl Buck embraces democracy of the American type. All the above three factors exert influence on her writings to varying degrees.
