自然是中国古代许多文学家追求的一种高境界,“真实”和“天然”是自然论的精髓。其中“真”是自然应有的含义,创作的自然首先表现在文学作品内容的真;“天然”是指创作手法上要摈弃人工的雕饰。现实主义作家曹雪芹通过《红楼梦》及其中人物的塑造,体现了他对这一理论的理解。
