Whole object assumption is an important principle in children's early word acquisition. Its existence makes children regard a new word as the name of an object rather than parts, attribution, action and spatial relation.Further analysis of the cause of the principle proves that children who speak different languages are inclined to regard a new word as the name of an object in their early word acquisition by applying whole object assumption. Therefore,it is charactistic of being stable in cross culture. But because of all sided limitations in research much more study will be needed before finding out the nature of whole object assumption.
