Tridodecyl phosphine may be used as a ligand for cobalt carbonyl.When this ligand complex be used as a catalyst for the hydroformylation of α-alkenes,may advantages can be observed than that when cobalt carbonyl alone is used.In this paper the usage and the synthetic method for the tridodecyl phosphine has been described and several experimental results were obtained.The synthesis of the tridodecyl phosphine was through the reaction of a Grignard reagent with phosphorus trichloride,successively by hydrolysis to obtain the crude phosphine and after fraetionation the pure phosphine was obtained.
