Information technology and its industry are of great importance in 21st century. The information industry of China is on the way of adjustment and development. The mechanical industry will be developed to its full in the process of informationization. It should take informationized products as its focus and make strategies to develop mechanical products upgraded by information technology. The education reform of mechanical engineering based on the concept of universalism should aim at the cultivation of creative, well\|qualified, modern engineers. It is necessary to reform the academic structure of mechanical engineering, teaching content and methods, enhance the elementary education, the cultivation of practical and creative ability, and strengthen the scientific research to meet the severe challenge of science and technology in 21st century.
