Quality Analysis of Stainless Steel IUD Retained in the Uterine Cavities for More Than 20 Years

本研究收集了在宫腔内放置20年以上的1Cr18Ni9Ti金属单环宫内节育器30O只。研究结果:其主要质量指标仍保持国颁标准,电镜与电子探针的深入检查亦未见明显腐蚀。因此可以认为:此种节育器作为避孕工具在宫腔内放置20年是可行的。300只节育器中的44%放置年限已超过20年,最长者达26年,其质量无明显的改变,结合线性极化法体外模拟腐蚀试验,平均腐蚀率为0.25mg(年),估计即使再放置20年,节育器的强度改变仍不大,因此有可能进一步延长使用,甚至作为终身避孕工具。

In our research,300 pieces of stainless steel IUDs made of “1 Cr 18 Ni 9 Ti” which hadbeen retained in uterine cavities for more than 20 years were collected. The research showed that the major qualities of these IUDs still conformed to the na-tional quality standards,moreover,no distinctive corrosion was found under electronicmicroscopy and electronic microprobing.Therefore,the using of this IUD as a contraceptivedevice to be retained in uterine cavity for 20 years is feasible.44.00% of the 300 IUDs hadbeen retained for more than 20 years,the longest being 26 years, with no marked effecton their quality. The rate of corrosion of the IUDs as determined by the linear polarization methodaveraged 0.25mg/year,indicating that the IUDs would not deteriorate markedly for ano-ther 20 years retention,thus making the prolongation of its retained duration possible,evenserving as a life-long contraceptive device.
