资源发现是制约Ｉｎｔｅｒｎｅｔ应用和发展的瓶颈，元数据则为这一问题的解决提供了可能。本文从元数据 的概念出发，首先介绍了几种常见元数据，然后重点阐述了Ｄｕｂｌｉｎ Ｃｏｒｅ的内容和特点，并将Ｄｕｂｌｉｎ Ｃｏｒｅ和其它 几种元数据进行了比较，最后指出作为一种网络信息组织和发现的工具，Ｄｕｂｌｉｎ Ｃｏｒｅ极具发展前景。

This paper begins with the concept of metadata, firstly introduces popular metadata, then discusses the content and Characteristics of Dublin Core, and futhermore involves the differences between Dublin Core and some other metadata, finally points out that Dublin Core will find more widely application in the future.
