Five C-60-indole adducts have been synthesized by 1, 3-dipolar cycloaddition reaction. These compounds are characterized by H-1 NMR, FT-IR, UV-Vis. The fluorescence spectra show that they are Similar to each other, with maximurn 0-->0 emission at about 708 nm in CHCl3 and fluorescence yields ca. 4 times, higher than that of pristine C-60. The fluorescence lifetime (tau(F)) of 1a-e is ca. 1.2 ns in toluene, which is very similar to that of C-60.
