The Guangdong Glass Factory selestod tho Cortincoat Hot End Coating System and Tegoglas Cold End Coatings for use on thoir beer bottle production lines.The Certincoat System was chosen because it imparts a protective layer of tin oxide to tho container surface that is significantly more uniform and consistantly applied than that realized with the use of other coating materials and application methods. Those excellent quality coatings result from the synergism between the proprietary coating material, Cortincoat TC100, and the specially designed coating chamber and material delivery units.Tegoglas cold end coatings wore specified because of the excellent lubricity, durability and pristine appearance that they provide. Unlike other polyethylene-typo cold ond coatings, the Tegoglas products are usable over a broad range of ware temperatures and do not require softened or doionized water for mixing.The application of those coatings to 640ml amber bottles resulted in substantial performance improvements versus the previously uncoatod ware: at tho glass factory, it was noted that these was a significant increase in tho burst strength of tho containers. Some reduction in the breakage incurred during shipment was also seen, but of most interest was tho use of tho ware at a local brewery: in initial testing, the breakage rate was reduced by a factor of one hundred.The improved ware properties permitted the glass factory to reduce tho mass of tho containers by approximately ten percent without sacrificing thoir performance. In early testing of the lightweightod ware at the brewery; breakage rates were maintained at the previously-demonstrated low levels.In addition to the savings in batch materials cost, tho lower ware weight affords a significant reduction in energy use and labor costs.
