According to the facts of the old urban 10 kV power distribution network in Jieyang City,this paper especially expatiates on the important action of voltage control and reactive power compensation on reducing losses of urban distribution network,and puts forward some voltage control and reactive power compensation means. Finally its concluded that the voltage control and reactive power compensation technology should be applied widely during the current reform of urban network.
