The microstructure an d pitting behavior of a new type cast stainless s teel with duplex phase structure,super l ow carbon,low chromium nickel and high s ilicon contents were investigated by the means of metallographic microscope,X ra y diffraction spectrum,electronic probe, scanning electron microscope(SEM) and sc anning tunneling microscope(STM).The res ults showed that the new type steel had a better resistance to pitting corrosion than that of the C15 steel.
