Emperor Longwu and the Zheng Clan were at the core of the Longwu Regime.In traditional history books Emperor Longwu was usually regarded as a puppet of Zheng zhilong. However, Emperor Longwu was in fact a man of resource and astuteness.After he ascended the throne,Emperor Longwus position Strengthened with financial and political supports from subordinate provinces.He tactfully fought for power with the zheng clan by taking advantnge of the conflicts between zheng zhilong and the civil officials.Zheng zhilong was left in Fuzhou while other officials belonging to the zhong clan were assigned to the front after Emperor Longwus northern expedition to North Fujian.Taking this chance Emperor Longwu gradually overpowered Zheng zhilong and became a real monarch of the Longwu Regime.
