More than 50 years of oil & gas exploration, mainly in Cenozoic continental clastic depositional basins, is called The First Pioneering by Academician LIU Guang-ding from CSA. A large number of oil fields have been discovered and these discoveries have greatly contributed to the construction and development of China. With the rapid development of economy and the expanding of population, oil & gas resources cannot meet the need of sustainable development. Then he puts forward that it is time to carry out The Second Pioneering of Oil & Gas Exploration, mainly in precenozoic marine relict basins.
